How to apply for a firearm, shotgun or explosives certificate
We are accepting new grant applications for shotgun, firearms or explosives certificates. We are following government guidance on the need for social distancing. Processing times will take a little longer than usual. We do have a significant backlog and are working through this as quickly as possible. Should the area you reside in became subject to a local lockdown, we will not be able to progress your application until the lockdown has been lifted.
We will be prioritising renewal applications and we would urge those certificate holders who have received a renewal reminder letter, to submit their application and medical pro-forma without delay. All applications to vary a firearm certificate will be given low priority unless the request is urgent and work related. You will otherwise experience long delays.
